The Special Investigation Unit formerly known as the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service is the backbone of all operations in the Canadian Army. The Special Investigation Unit is responsible for keeping operations in order and ensuring that every regulation violation is met with appropriate consequences.

Transparency is one of the most important factors that we take into consideration in the unit, therefore all cases, reports, and other information regarding the unit is available for the public eye. This is one of the main goals of this website to have more transparency with not only CAF members but also civilians who are not employed within the CAF. Under this, you will find the QNA section if a question you have is not answered here then don't worry! You can always ask a Special Investigation Unit member your question and they will try to answer to the best of their ability. However, we do ask that you follow the Chain of command which is listed down below.

What is the Special Investigation Unit?

The Special Investigation Unit is a part of the CAF and is in charge of investigating COSD and R&R violations as such they act as Internal Affairs within the CAF they can issue punishments such as discharges suspensions formal warnings etc the Special Investigation Unit also handles Background checks.

How can I join the Special Investigation Unit?

You can join the special Investigation Unit by applying through the aptitude test that get's periodically released in recruitment enrollment within the CAF discord server. If you pass the aptitude test you will be given more information on how to precede. Applications only open on an as-needed basis.

Can I be in the Special Investigation Unit and any regiment of my choosing?

Yes you can be in the Special Investigation Unit as a Support Staff member while in any regiment however you must be in the Canadian Forces Military Police to be an Investigator in the Special Investigation Unit.
